I was never really into superheroes. Wonder Woman was pretty dope, but I was old enough to know that she was a fraud.
My superhero is my mom!! My “Dad” was barely around when I was growing up, so my mom did everything. She raised my brother and I (the 2 youngest) on a teacher’s salary, with no income throughout the summer. We were not spoiled kids but never went without. She must have done a helluva job saving her extra “nickels, dimes, quarters”!
As I got older, we didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of things, but I always respected her. A lot of things I didn’t “want” to do but I did because she was my mom. Early Saturday morning grocery store runs, last minute cigarette stops, personal taxi service, etc. I quietly grunted and growled as I did these chores. Now, I would trade the world to have her back with me so that I could do those things with and for her! Never take your loved ones for granted, they can be snatched from you at any given moment!!
I love and miss you mom!!
Most Effective Retail Therapy!
My name is Katy and I am addicted to retail! Lack of funds has recently curbed my ability to shop as much as I love to, but…
I LOVE to buy make-up! Mostly eyeshadow and lip gloss! Sephora and MAC are my two most favorite hot spots!!
I also love to buy shoes! Tennis shoes, flip flops, flats and HEELS (any shoes)!! I have especially had my sneaker itch lately! I spotted one “to die for” pair on a chick at Disneyland and have been obsessed since! My search continues…
This one is kinda tricky! I always thought that what I have, is a horrible habit! Turns out, it is a serious problem!
For those that don’t know what it is…I pull my hair out. I started in the 6th grade and have been “pulling” ever since. I hate it and wish I could stop! I am not an extreme case, but extreme enough to have ruined my hair and have bald patches.
I tried Prozac, this worked a little, but the side effects were UGLY! Studies show that behavior therapy is most beneficial, but I can’t afford it!! FML. I always thought about hypnotherapy, but how do you find one? Til then, I’ll just continue to be a freak! So, if you are around me and see me pulling, please tell me to stop! Chance are…I don’t know that I’m doing it!
Let me start by saying, I have quite a few aquaintances and just a handful of people that I call close friends! Not to offend anyone…and in NO particular order!!
Jennifer – We met in 1999! Her son attended a school that I taught at. She is the other half to the coolest inter-racial couple I know! We have been through so much together! I love her!
Mamers-We met through another friend who has since been x-filed. Always good times, great listener and will do almost anything with me on a whim!
From L to R- uptop is Gloria, under is Yari and then Susie! When I was Director, these girls made up part of my most awesome staff! We are truly a family. No matter what goes on, I can still catch up and pick up where I left off with them.
Justin – “This Guy” Who ever says male and female cannot have a strictly platonic relationship, never knew us. Super cool dude, stays fresh to death and is up on his Sneaker Culture!
Auts- We have known each other since high school and have come a long way! We are both super quick witted and sarcastic as all get out! Love her and her beautiful family!
Last and certainly NOT least…
My Baby- My BESTEST FRIEND! We met several years ago! Lost touch for a few years, now we are back! Ups and downs, ins and outs but I wouldn’t trade him for anyone! I love you Carlton! Thank you for still giving me butterflies! XoxOxOX
Until tomorrow…thanks for following!
What is the meaning behind your Blog Name?
Raised in The Wrigley Part of Long Beach, south of Willow Street, I was one of very few white kids. Growing up, this area was and continues to be predominately Black and Mexican. I went to private school with quite a few Filipino kids and had lots of Mexican friends. I am very fortunate to have been raised in a cultural diverse area.
As a result, I believe I have different views. However, TRUST that I am not ghetto. Well educated, street smart and possess common sense! That makes me…
